The Graduation Ceremony is designed to be a dignified presentation of diplomas to students completing the graduation requirements. The following procedures and rules are established to afford participating seniors the respect and attention that they each deserve. Please remember that participating in a graduation ceremony is a privilege and the school reserves the right to take the necessary steps to make this an appropriate activity in keeping with state law and Board Policy. Inappropriate behavior will result in removal from the ceremony. THS reserves the right to conduct breathalyzer test. All students will be breathalyzed upon arrival to the ceremony. Please see Graduation Dress Code for appropriate attire described below.

Cameras
People with cameras will not be allowed to stand in front of parents and guests during the ceremony. This includes moving to the stadium railing or fence line. We want all parents and seniors to have their moment of recognition without the interruption of others.
Parking
This will all depend on which side of the field the graduate will be sitting on during the ceremony. Graduates will be seated on either the “Black Side” or “Red Side”. Students will know at Graduation Practice whether they will be sitting on the “Black Side” or the “Red Side”. It is advised that the graduate and guests arrive in the same vehicle to the ceremony. Parents and family members with a valid handicapped placard (issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles) may park in the specified handicapped parking area.
Black Side Seating - Guests and graduates that will be sitting on the “Black Side” (Visitor bleachers) will park on the field behind the Visitor bleachers off San Juan Street. Guests will be able to enter the stadium on this side and all Graduates must check in at the Sports Pavilion. Once the ceremony is over, the graduates that are on the “Black Side” will be exiting the field area behind the visitor bleachers to meet up with their guests or family members (see attached map).
Red Side Seating- Guests and graduates that will be sitting on the “Red Side” (Home bleachers) will park in the main parking lot at Tustin High. Please be aware that this lot may fill up. All Graduates must check in at the Sports Pavilion. Once the ceremony is over, graduates on the “Red Side” will exit out to the parking lot to meet up with their guests or family members (see attached map).
Alcohol/Drugs
The state law is very specific regarding students and alcohol. Any senior with alcohol on his/her breath or any senior determined to be under the influence or in possession of an illegal drug will be removed from the processional line and will NOT be allowed to participate. All students will be breathalyzed upon arrival to the Sports Pavilion. As in the past, Tustin Police Department will assist Tustin High School with the screening and removal of students. This is absolute – no exceptions will be made.
